Xiang Q. Werdich, M.D., PH.D.

Dr. Xiang Q. Werdich is a medical retina specialist and comprehensive ophthalmologist. She provides comprehensive eye care with expertise in retinal diseases such as diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, retinal inflammatory diseases and inherited retinal degenerations. She is a skilled surgeon who has performed thousands of intravitreal injections, retinal laser procedures, photodynamic therapies, and cataract surgeries.

Education and Training

Dr. Werdich earned her MD degree from Peking University Health Science Center and a PhD degree from Vanderbilt University. Her dissertation was focused on retinal neovascularization and anti-vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) therapy. She completed an ophthalmology residency at Cleveland Clinic Cole Eye Institute and subspecialty training in medical retina at Moorfields Eye Hospital in London, UK and inherited retinal degenerations and pediatric medical retina at Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary (MEEI) and Boston Children’s Hospital. She has published many peer-reviewed scientific articles and presented at national and international conferences. She speaks mandarin fluently.

Affiliations

Dr. Werdich worked as a staff physician at MEEI and an instructor of ophthalmology at Harvard Medical School previously. She is currently affiliated with Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and MEEI. Dr. Werdich is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
